I developed a business idea that combines my 3 passions: “Kids, Yoga, and Dogs”. The acronym of all 3-words spells “KYDs” K - arma - give back and be benevolent always, in your actions and thoughts Y - oga - be active, care for your body, be healthy, settle your thoughts D - ogs - my furry family, that have given me so much unconditional love. My dream wish was to create, develop my own plush dog, in likeness of my own dogs, that could also do yoga and mediate with children. I wanted children to learn to practice Yoga and meditation and had at heart to educate them on respecting and taking care of pets. This is how I created a meditative toy that teaches children how to do yoga, understand breathing techniques, and better manage their emotions. Lola is a meditative toy that has the shape of a French bulldog, she is based on my first beloved dog, I owned in the UA, back in 2004. The reason why the toy has the shape of a dog (besides my love for my pets) is to also remind children to take care of their pets and respect them. I have seen how some parents buy their children pets thinking it can be then treated like a toy, and worse then abandoned after a while, once the family realize the time, cost, care and energy it takes to bring up a well behaved pet. I am a Pediatric Nurse and am very fond of the about anything related to a child’s well-being. I realized that children needed to learn to express and manage their emotions. As a Yoga teacher,who has been practicing Yoga for over 20-yrs, I know children will enjoy the benefits of what Lola has to offer. It took me a lot of time and money to develop more than 4 prototypes before finalizing Lola, to ensure she was just right for the customer. I always kept in mind, she had to be what I would want, expect and accept in the market in a Yoga toy. Therefore, she took several years to perfect. All the products are created and developed by me. They all have the objective to teach children something valuable: managing their emotions, being tolerant, accepting others even if they are different, and practicing a healthy activity. The focus is to allow children to become better humans.

The Mission Statement of “NAT KYDs” is to help a child cultivate their emotional intelligence through the practice of doing yoga and meditation with Nat’s KYDs The Vision statement of “NAT KYDs” to see every child in the UAE and afar, have a genuine love to practice yoga and meditation and reap its virtues and benefits the practice has to offer them.

Yoga Lola description, care & materials: ➢ I have created a meditative, articulating (for yoga poses) structured toy, made from Polyester fibers and Polyurethane cotton ➢ Clean toy surface with warm water, mild soap. ➢ The toy is soft to touch; in the shape of a dog - that can do almost any Yoga pose, due to the toys articulating inner skeletal structure. Size: Lola is 10 inches/25cm tall Lola’s favorite yoga pose is downward facing dog, and then upward facing Dog. it’s the first thing she does once she climbs out of bed, every day, Lola’s affirmation: Dogs: “Always make: Yoga & Meditation, PAWS-ible in your life! Lola’s personality: An excerpt from my book in italics about Lola’s character and the benefits gained from practicing Yoga & Meditation: (Lola said, “When I’m calm and peaceful, I sleep better with no anxiety, and have happy dreams.” Lola was a black French bulldog. She was the most overactive of the KYDs and had a lot of energy. She played so much during the day that by night she was thoroughly exhausted and would sleep like a puppy. ​Lola said, “Breathing helps us listen better. We don’t get mad over the small things. We find it easy to focus on new tricks, and we don’t run away when Mum calls us to come back. Mum says it has helped us with our self-control… Lola loved yoga because it helped her breathe better, concentrate, and kept her muscles supple and mind calm. Lola also did conscious breathing—it helped strengthen the lungs, which helped her swim and run longer.) Lola, had the most energy out of all my dogs. And would like to be very naughty as a puppy and a young teenager, compared to her other siblings. Meditation has helped her have more self-awareness, self-control, and helped her to deal with her emotions better by considering her other sibling’s feelings. Yoga has helped her to become physically fit and stronger.

Lola, can help children better manage their emotions, by practicing stillness, learn to practice Yoga, and self-awareness and enjoy its benefits. But ultimately, I want to make a social impact by helping animal Rescue centers within UAE.
